We wish to show respect and acknowledge the custodians of this land [Springthorpe Estate-former site of the Mont Park and related asylums / hospitals], the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation and their Elders past and present. We acknowledge and respect their continuing culture and the contribution they make to the life of this region.
We also wish to acknowledge the staff and people who were treated in all the hospitals on this site, both the past soldiers and patients of the tuberculosis and lunacy/mental health hospitals; the doctors and staff at the hospitals for their often ground-breaking discoveries which improved the lives of their patients and other patients around the world.
